A Stand, also referred to as a Gate, is a place-able structure that allows for the storage and servicing of planes by the airport.

Stands facilitate requirements of their associated plane, which can require services, you will receive payment for for requested services, as specified in the economy / fees tab of your management panel.

Stand Types

The game offers three different types of stand types;

  • Small stands accommodate 'General Aviation' (GA) and small 'Commercial Flights'. - 5X7.
  • Medium stands accommodate medium 'Commercial Flights'. - 10X10.
  • Large stands accommodate large 'Commercial Flights'. - 16X16.

World interaction

Stands have several ways of interacting with the airport;

  • Stands can be toggled for flight types;

  • Stands can be added and removed from international availability.
    • Also can be set in the flight planner
  • Stands can be opened and closed, but only when no plane is associated with that stand while on the field.
    • Planes queued at runways count as associated with a stand
      • Also when the airport is closed
      • Also when all runways are closed
      • Also when all runways are set on "departure"
    • Will loose all reserved flights (GA and Commercial) when closed, but a prompt will be presented before this happens.

    • Into Grass stand
    • Into Asphalt stand
    • Into Concrete stand (if unlocked)

    • Stands can be auto-repaired by a COO.

    • Stands can not be demolished with the normal bulldozer from the build bar.
  • Stands can be forced to dismiss an airplane
    • The plane has to be at the stand for the order to be executed
  • Stands can be connected to a baggage bay
    • Baggage bays can only be interacted with when no plane is associated with that stand while on the field.
  • Stands can be added and removed from night flight access, also in the flight planner
    • Reserved future commercial flights will persist on the stand
    • Flights adjusted due to a volcano can overrule stand settings
    • Emergency flights ignore night access settings
  • Stands can be added and removed from the auto-planner,
    • Can be adjusted in the flight planner, when the auto-planner is active.
  • Stands can have assigned vehicles for specific services
    • Passenger boarding and unboarding
    • Baggage handling
    • Push-back services
  • Stands can have an assigned "Service Vehicle" stop.
    • Stands can disconnect a "Service Vehicle" stop, but only when no plane is associated with that stand while on the field.
  • Stands can have an assigned "Air-side Shuttle Bus" stop.
    • Stands can disconnect a "Air-side Shuttle Bus" stop, but only when no plane is associated with that stand while on the field.
  • Stands can have an assigned "Air-side Arrival only Shuttle Bus" stop.
    • Stands can disconnect a "Air-side Arrival only Shuttle Bus" stop, but only when no plane is associated with that stand while on the field.
  • Stands can be part of a specific Terminal, see "Terminal Management"
    • Stands can disconnect a "Terminal", but only when no plane is associated with that stand while on the field.
  • Commercial stands demand access to security stations through a boarding desk
    • Several boarding desks can be assigned to the same stand
    • International stands demand access to boarding desks located in international zone

Servicing

When planes request services, the stand needs a service road connection. Connected to a security station and access to a depot or vehicle parking. Medium and Large stand have additional service handling compared to the small stands and are listed separately. Mediums and Large stands have a taxi point that extends the edge of a stand.

Large
  • 6 ramp agents
  • 2 food service trucks

Remote Stands

Remote stands were added in the One Year Anniversary update and can allow commercial flights to not be next to the terminal.

Creating a Remote Stand

  1. Place a stand (any size, type, etc) away from any terminals.
  2. Connect with service road to normal utilities and terminal exit with boarding desk. Connect the taxiways and runway(s) as usual.
  3. At terminal exit, place a shuttle bus stop and connect it to the stand. Note: You do not need a shuttle bus stop at the stands, the bus will park in the stand, much like other service vehicles
  4. Place a Service Car Stop next to the terminal, and connect it to the stand as well. These are required so that ramp agents can get to the stand for turnaround services. Make sure the service car stop is connected to a security zone from which the ramp agent can reach it.
  5. In Vehicles -> Procurement, purchase an airside shuttle bus and service car. Ensure you have a vehicle depot/parking lot for this.
  6. If it is a medium or larger stand, do not forget a pushback and stairway vehicle!
  7. You now have a remote stand ready!

TIP: Flights scheduled at remote stands will be given 45 extra minutes in the flight planner, to account for added travel times.
